Armenian students in China showcased their talents and the rich culture of their country
In December 2023, Armenian students who are studying in China exhibited their skills and demonstrated the diverse and vibrant culture of their home country.
On December 9th, the international forum “Chinese for the World: Openness into the Future” took place at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. Syuzanna Muradyan, an Armenian student residing in Beijing, participated in this major event while wearing a stylized Armenian garment with Armenian folk costume motifs.
On December 10th, the Southwest University in Chongqing, a major city in the Sichuan region of the People’s Republic of China, organized the 16th International Cultural Festival. This festival provided a unique platform for students from diverse national and cultural backgrounds to showcase the performative and visual arts of their homeland. Armenian students Emma Arabajyan, Julyetta Botsinyan, Katherina Tikhomirova, and Hayarpi Daveyan presented the customs, cuisine, history, art, and traditional garments of Armenia while wearing stylized gowns with the imitation of Ourfa needlework, Yerevan urban gown with the floral fabric, and the replica of the Armenian national costume of Karin region. The visitors expressed awe and excitement upon viewing Armenian artworks and costumes and tasting Armenian wine. They were willing to take pictures and obtain additional information regarding Armenia and its history.
Both events were significant steps forward for Sino-Armenian cultural dialogue and building bridges through recognizing each other’s customs, national costumes, and performative arts.
