President of “Synopsys” visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial
President and co-Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys Dr. Chi-Foon Chan visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Yerevan on 19 November, 2021. Near the Eternal Fire of the Genocide Memorial, Mr. Chi Foon Chan honored the memory of the innocent martyrs with a minute of silence.
Dr. Chi Foon Chan also toured the Armenian Genocide Museum, visited the permanent and temporary exhibitions and left a note in the Honorable Guests’ Book. Afterwards, he planted a fir tree in the Memory Park.
The Armenian genocide was the systematic destruction of ethnic Armenians in the Ottoman Empire during World War I. Spearheaded by the ruling Committee of Union and Progress (CUP), it was accomplished primarily through the mass murder of around one million Armenians during death marches leading to the Syrian Desert and the forced Islamization of Armenian women and children.
Dr. Chi-Foon Chan was born in Taiwan to a family who comes from eight generations of Chinese. When he was two years old, his family relocated to Hong Kong. Although already an American citizen, Chan still keeps his ties to his family and his roots. His parents are still in Hong Kong. Other relatives remain in Taiwan. He renews family ties when he goes home once a year, and whenever his work takes him to Asia.
