Bridging Cultures Online: Armenian and Chinese Students Connect in Landmark Exchange Webinar

On December 14, the Diaspora Youth Ambassador to China, Mane Vardanyan, hosted an online Exchange Webinar that brought together Armenian students in China and Chinese students in Armenia. Designed to deepen mutual understanding and foster lasting connections, the event centered on personal storytelling as a means to enhance cultural adaptation and build a supportive academic network for future cooperation.
Students shared open reflections on the unique rewards and challenges of living abroad. Discussions spanned a variety of meaningful topics—from navigating cultural differences and embracing local customs, to reevaluating their own national identities through the lens of their international experiences. Participants also explored the most surprising and memorable aspects of daily life in their host countries, generating a candid and vibrant dialogue across cultures.
The session concluded with a forward-looking announcement by Bryusov University student Li Yixuan (Armenian name: Lusine), who helped coordinate the Chinese delegation. She introduced a new joint initiative called “影链丝路” (Visual Silk Road)—a photography project that will culminate in an exhibition where Armenian and Chinese students visually portray both their homelands and their adopted countries.
The exchange was met with great enthusiasm and successfully achieved its goals, inspiring participants to continue building meaningful cross-cultural collaborations in the future.
