Armenia Represented at the 2025 International Forum on Global Governance and Cultural Studies at the Chinese Academy of History, Beijing

In November 2025, Dr. Ani Margaryan, an Armenian art historian and expert in Silk Road Studies and Cross-Cultural Studies, had the distinct honor of representing Armenia at the prestigious International Forum of Overseas Studies on Xi Jinping’s Thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a New Era: Changes Unseen in a Century and the Governance of China, held in Beijing on November 12-13, 2025. This high-level event, organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), brought together over 200 scholars, researchers, and professionals from 35 countries, all engaged in a two-day forum.
As the sole Armenian scholar invited to present at this renowned forum, Dr. Margaryan contributed her expertise on Sino-Armenian cultural interactions, examining both historical connections and the contemporary relevance of these ties within the broader context of the Belt and Road Initiative. This opportunity allowed Armenia to be represented on the global stage, showcasing the enduring importance of Armenian culture and scholarship within global academic discourse.
The forum, which took place at the Chinese Academy of History in Beijing, featured delegates from a diverse array of countries, including the United States, France, Italy, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, and Turkey, among others. Discussions centered on global issues, ranging from political governance to economic cooperation, as well as cross-cultural exchanges.
This forum served as an invaluable platform for intellectual exchange, inspiring new perspectives and collaborative opportunities. The experience underscored the importance of continuous learning, adapting to new research methodologies, and the need to enhance language proficiency—specifically in Chinese, to deepen scholarly connections and further engage in international dialogues. The forum also emphasized China’s significant contributions to global unification, the resolution of pressing international issues, and the promotion of cross-cultural understanding, positioning the country as a central force in shaping future global governance.
