Armenian National Costume from the ChinArmArt Collection Unveiled on Leading Platforms in China, Presented by ASAC Board Member
On November 26, the “SHO Showcase” ethnic costume immersive experience, organized by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), made its debut in the historic Shinan district of Qingdao. Sifang Road and Sanjiangli were transformed into dynamic fashion runways, where models showcased unique ethnic costumes from the SCO member countries. Among the most striking displays were the traditional garments from Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. This event provided an exciting opportunity for attendees to appreciate the beauty and diversity of national costumes while witnessing the fusion of various cultures.
The showcase marked the public unveiling and in-depth presentation of the Armenian national costume from the Karin region. Lilit Dallakyan, a board member of the Armenian Student Association of China (ASAC) and a passionate advocate for Armenian culture, was a standout participant. With extensive experience presenting Armenian culture at cross-cultural, social, and educational events across China, Lilit wore the distinctive Karin gown, performed an Armenian folk dance, and participated in the fashion show.
In addition to Lilit’s attire, Chinese models presented the first-ever revived traditional costume of the Armenian mercantile class, along with a luxurious gown and accessories from the Vaspurakan region of Western Armenia. These garments are part of the sole Armenian national costume collection in China, curated by ChinArmArt (www.chinarmart.com), which houses rare and valuable pieces that celebrate Armenia’s rich cultural heritage in China.
