A Cultural Exhibition of Armenian Identity: Traditional Costumes and Performing Arts at Tianjin Foreign Studies University

On October 24th, a cohort of Armenian international students in China participated in a fashion show of national costumes at Tianjin Foreign Studies University, highlighting the richness of Armenian cultural heritage. The students showcased traditional garments alongside performances of Armenian performing arts. Notably, Mariam Barseghyan, Mariam Ghazaryan, and Liana Tsakanyan adorned themselves in intricately handcrafted costumes inspired by the traditional attire of Yerevan, Urfa embroidery, and stage costumes associated with Armenian folk dances from the 1970s.
The audience demonstrated considerable appreciation for the Armenian cultural presentation, particularly Liana Tsakanyan’s rendition of the Uzundara dance. It is important to note that the costumes worn by the Armenian students were replicas from the ChinArmArt collection, the sole repository of Armenian traditional garments in China.
