Gagik Ginosyan, a true pillar of Armenian folk culture, passed away

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gagik Ginosyan, a renowned figure in Armenian culture who was the founder and artistic director of the “Karin” folk song-dance group.
Ginosyan was not only a dance specialist and dance-ethnographer but also a participant in the Artsakh war. He was an Honored Worker of Culture of RA and Honored Figure of Culture of the City of Yerevan and was awarded the Knight of Golden Medal of the Ministry of Culture of RA.
Ginosyan was the founder and artistic director of the Karin and Tsovak Folk Song and Dance Ensembles since 2001. He has also been the organizer of the publically accessible We and Our Dance monthly dance classes (with Karin Ensemble) since 2005. In 2008, he authored the first Armenian DVD dance tutorial entitled Armenian Dance, released in the framework of the Armenian Knight TV program.
Ginosyan has worked extensively to incorporate the National Song and Dance discipline into the curricula of schools in Armenia since 2014. In 2015, he founded the Academy of National Song and Dance in collaboration with the Ayb Foundation. Ginosyan also contributed to the research and theoretical studies of Armenian dances, further enriching Armenian culture.
